The Batley and the Christmas Lights Celebration Event is extremely popular and well-attended, with a stage for a variety of entertainment and fairground rides, santa's grotto and a Christmas Market. The event culminates with the switching-on of the Christmas Lights which brightens up the town during the six weeks before and after Christmas.
Over a long period of time, at least twenty years, the Christmas light switch-on celebration has been an annual event in Batley. Since 2016, it has been up to Batley Business Association to organise and finance the event.
Money for the 2017 and 2018 events has now run out and so we need the support of the local community for this very enjoyable event to continue.

- Hire security and first aid company & professional safety manager
Why it's a great idea:
This is an annual event which brings the community together to celebrate the festive season and is the back-drop for the switching on of Christmas Lights in Batley which are provided by Kirklees MC
Traditionally there has been an impressive footfall and local businesses, particularly restaurants/cafes, have spoken of the positive effect on their trade.
Equally important is that local entertainers, solo and group, have the opportunity to showcase their talent and programmes. It is the only public opportunity for children in Batley to visit Santa in his grotto and receive a Christmas gift.
Batley needs this annual event to become sustainable and permanent in the annual calendar.
