We want to bring our wide and diverse community together through a passion for sport. Help us help the countless people in Barns Green and surrounding area with a love for tennis and nowhere to play!
The Club serves Itchingfield, Barns Green, Coolham, Southwater, Shipley, Coneyhurst and Dragons Green. With rapid growth in housing, there's a need for more sporting facilities. Barns Green has the only tennis courts in the area. The courts haven't been resurfaced since 1985, large cracks have developed and the surface is bumpy. Despite this people are now playing tennis regularly. It's particularly heartening to see children learning new skills and becoming rather good. The courts will continue to deteriorate if left and won't be safe. This would be a blow to the people who use the courts now and the hundreds who will be able to use the courts over the coming years. We plan to repair the cracks to both courts, fully resurface court 1 which is in disrepair, and paint the new surface in two tone green to provide a great surface to play on. Please help us to save the courts for the benefit of everyone now and in the future. Just £2 would go a long way! £5 would be even better!
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
There are many health and social benefits to playing tennis and it really is a game for life. The club offers low cost membership (annual membership £18 for children and £40 for adults) and very good value tennis coaching (£4 an hour for members and £5 an hour for non-members). As well as being a great physical workout, tennis is also: a non-impact sport a great way to meet people and spend time with friends suitable for all ages and skill levels helpful to reduce stress not dependent on youth or strength – you can play for a lifetime or start the game at any age Sport is a great way to bring people together. People can often feel isolated once they've left work, or if they're being bullied at school or moved to a new area. The club provides an easy way to get out and meet people. The physical activity provides confidence and a great feeling of well-being. Court 1 is in very bad condition. The plan is to repair the cracks and resurface the worst court now so play can continue.

Thanks to your very generous donations, the resurfacing work has begun. Thanks to the weather, it's progressing very nicely! The little patches you can see are drainage and the clump in the middle was taken from the edges and will be taken away. The surface has to wait two weeks before it can be painted. We cannot thank you enough for your support. As we've reached our target, and work has begun, we will stop fund raising and collect payments on 1st April.
