Against The Odds is an award-winning social enterprise founded on lived experience. Our purpose is to educate, empower, and support young people around the risks and realities of gambling-related harm. We aim to challenge societal norms around gambling, promote early intervention, and offer on-going recovery support to those in need.
“Our vision is a world where every young person is empowered to thrive—regardless of their background—by being equipped with the knowledge to navigate the risks of gambling harm. In an age where gambling is relentlessly promoted across elite sport, television, radio, social media, public transport and through celebrity endorsements, we believe it’s only fair that young people are given the tools to make informed choices and protect their future.”
Education I Awareness I Recovery
We deliver relatable, engaging, and evidence-informed workshops that spark open discussion, promote critical thinking, and empower young people to navigate the risks of gambling with greater confidence.
Each session is designed to connect with learners on their level, creating a safe space for reflection and awareness. We’re also proud of our ability to convert workshop participants into social media followers, allowing us to reinforce our messaging beyond the classroom and remain just a click away for those who may need ongoing support.
Education I Awareness I Recovery
Our Awareness Club drives greater understanding of gambling-related harm among 16–24-year-olds, highlighting the influence of gambling advertising on young people.
Against The Podds is our podcast launched in 2024, shining a light on gambling and addiction awareness. We sit down with guests from the UFC, Premier League, lived experience, and affected others to explore the realities of addiction, its impact, and the personal tools they use to stay in recovery.
???????Education I Awareness I Recovery
In response to a growing number of students and staff reaching out for direct support after our sessions, we launched ATO Recovery in 2024. Led by our Director of Recovery, Conor Martin (RCP), the service has already supported 21 individuals on their recovery journeys across a range of addictions. We’re also proud to work within professional sport, offering remote coaching to young athletes focused on goal setting, boundaries, mindset, and lifestyle change—helping them build strong foundations both on and off the pitch.
