Established in 2001, Aspire has been tackling the most complex social issues in Oxfordshire for over 20 years. We support local people into and towards employment and housing, as the most powerful way to break complex cycles of homelessness, re-offending and poverty.
Aspire empowers people to rebuild their lives and realise their potential. It provides marginalised people with the support they need, from employment coaching to refugee support. Clients improve their skills, confidence, and wellbeing, laying the foundations for long-term change. Aspire takes a person-centred approach to meet each client’s distinct needs.
In 2023/24, Aspire responded to nearly 1,800 support referrals. It supported 131 people into paid work, sustained 342 tenancies, and created 96 new tenancies.
Aspire helps people like Fahmi, who resettled in Oxford under the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (SVPRS) programme. Fahmi attended our Work Based English course, completed taster sessions with local employers, and undertook further training. Aspire helped Fahmi to find a 4-month placement with Green Templeton College, which led to permanent employment at St Anne’s College.
Aspire’s Witney Hub focuses on supporting young people aged 18-25. Marginalised young people can access wellbeing sessions to improve their resilience and self-esteem. The hub offers courses on topics such as mental health and communication, helping young people develop important skills in a safe communal space.
The Witney Hub also delivers employment, training, and education advice. These sessions, like Aspire’s work with other age groups, help clients to build the foundations of a better life. Aspire supports young people to identify and work towards their aims. Support is tailored to each individual, ensuring that they receive the support that suits them.
