The idea
Artane Tidy Group is proposing to commission a professional artist to design and paint a large-scale biodiversity-themed mural on a building at the entrance to Artane Place.
This mural forms part of a wider environmental improvement vision for the area. A separate project to install a living wall on the adjoining section of the building is being supported through Dublin City Council and is not part of this crowdfunding campaign. However, the living wall has inspired the theme of the mural and strengthens the overall biodiversity message that Artane Tidy Group is promoting within the community.
By complementing the greening initiative with vibrant public artwork, this project will help transform an industrial entrance into an attractive, educational and welcoming space. The mural will highlight the importance of biodiversity, encourage environmental awareness, and contribute to improved streetscaping and community pride.

Why it's a great idea
The Artane Place Biodiversity Mural will transform a concrete industrial entrance into a vibrant, nature-inspired feature that enhances the local streetscape and sense of place. The mural will raise awareness of biodiversity and climate action in an accessible and creative way, complementing the nearby living wall initiative. Led by Artane Tidy Group in partnership with local stakeholders and Xestra Management, the project will build community pride, support environmental education and contribute to ongoing efforts to improve the area and strengthen participation in the Tidy Towns competition.
Steps to get it done
