We need to invest in our facilities and top of our list is an electronic scoreboard, in memory of our long-standing scorer and former club president, Lesley Morgan
We are appealing to players, past players, their families and supporters to help us generate funds • in the first instance for an electronic scoreboard in memory of the club’s long-serving scorer, Lesley Morgan • and secondly, if there are any excess funds, to further invest in our facilities, including the servicing of our ground equipment and sprucing up some of our clubhouse facilities whilst we explore the options of a new pavilion. As visitors to our ground will know our old scorebox is past the end of its useful life. In order to provide players and spectators with timely and visible updates on the scores we need a reliable, secure and weather-proof replacement which can be operated remotely – something which will be a fitting tribute to our late, loyal scorer.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
At Andover we pride ourselves on being open to all standards of player from the age of 5 up; in order to keep the club flourishing for future generations, we must continue to invest in facilities, as well as developing players. Little, if anything, is left over from subscriptions/match fees after paying day to day running costs and so we depend on fundraising to make any capital investment. 2020 has been exceptional with no chance to stage any fund-raising events. The provision of an electronic scoreboard in 2021 will provide a much-needed boost to the club after this unusual year (and may even encourage more volunteers to score). We hope to raise several thousand pounds and, subject to your generosity, any excess may be invested in professional servicing of our ground equipment for good performance and longevity; and in the sprucing up of our tired clubhouse whilst we explore the options of pavilion development.
