More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

We minimised the use of printed material by providing training resources digitally, reducing paper consumption and waste. We used local suppliers where possible, helping to reduce travel distances and support local businesses within the community. Learners and volunteers were encouraged to use public transport, walk when attending training sessions - helping to reduce vehicle emissions. We made conscious decisions throughout the project to promote sustainable practices and reduce our environmental footprint.

The local economy

The local economy

1. We bought equipment locally where possible. 2. We created skills that improve employability. 3. We increased Ambur Radio's capacity to deliver future projects and training.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

The project increased education and volunteering opportunities by providing free radio and media training to six local residents. Since receiving the funding, Ambur radio has been able to purchase and install new broadcasting equipment and move into a larger, more accessible training space within our premises. The larger room and new mixer have increased our capacity to support more learners and volunteers - enabling us to deliver high quality training and create additional opportunities for community participation. The project was supported by five volunteers who contributed approximately 150 hours of mentoring, workshop support and coordination. During the project period, Ambur Radio also successfully achieved its Investing in Volunteers accreditation, recognising our commitment to creating positive, inclusive and well supported volunteering environment. This accreditation will help us attract, support and retain more volunteers in the future and strengthen our long term community impact. The new equipment and improved facilities have created a lasting legacy, allowing Ambur Radio to continue to delivering training programmes and develop future opportunities for local people to gain skills, confidence and experience in broadcasting and media.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

Ambur Radio continues to play an important role in celebrating and promoting the diverse cultures and communities of Walsall. The new broadcasting equipment and equipment and larger training space have enabled us to improve the quality of our multicultural programming. The improved facilities have also increased our capacity to continue delivering programming and community engagement around key cultural and religious celebrations, including Eid, Vaisakhi, Easter and Christmas.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

The project promoted health and wellbeing by providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive space where local residents could learn new skills, build confidence and connect with others.
