The idea
Bring into use area of unused ground by clearing area, building and installing 9 raised beds and small storage locker for tools.
Raised beds provide a small area, about 6.75 sq. metres for new gardeners to try and learn at in allotment community, or for elderly who may not be able to cope with larger space.
Increase opportunity of access to garden or green space in area where housing density is increasing.
The Society provides support and benefits to young and old from a small local community of gardeners
What we'll deliver
- Put unused land into use
- Provision raised beds for gardeners
Why it's a great idea
New and old gardeners sometimes find a typical allotment plot of 100 sq. metres to much to start with or manage. A smaller raised bed provides a great starting block for new and old, to learn or continue gardening with less to worry about.
There are areas of ground that do not lend themselves to good gardening plots. Recovery and refurbishing will enable the ground into active and beneficial use.
Steps to get it done
- Purchase of materials and building raised beds
- Purchase of soil for raised beds
- Purchase and building storage sheds
