More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

Our project helps the environment by encouraging people to connect with and care for nature through hands-on bushcraft activities. We promote sustainable practices, respect for wildlife, and responsible use of natural resources, while increasing awareness of biodiversity and local green spaces. This helps build long-term environmentally responsible behaviours and a stronger sense of stewardship for the natural world.

The local economy

The local economy

Our project supports the local economy by bringing people into the community to attend our sessions and events, which can increase use of nearby shops and services. We keep our sessions affordable, making activities accessible for families, and where possible use local suppliers. We also help participants build confidence and practical skills, which can support future opportunities.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

Our project supported education, volunteering and employment by providing meaningful opportunities for skill development and personal growth. We engaged three volunteers during the project, including Jon, who is completing his college placement with us and has developed a wide range of practical and interpersonal skills. Another volunteer, Porl, who is currently unable to work due to medical reasons, has found that volunteering with us has improved his mental health and given him a renewed sense of purpose. We have also supported children in alternative provision and those who are home educated, offering hands-on learning experiences that build confidence, teamwork, and practical skills. These experiences not only support their education but also help prepare them for future employment, providing valuable skills and experiences that can strengthen their CVs.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

Our project supports arts, culture and heritage by teaching traditional bushcraft skills like fire lighting and woodcraft, helping keep these skills alive. We also include creative activities using natural materials and celebrate seasonal events like Christmas and Easter. This helps people connect with nature, creativity, and cultural traditions.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

Our project promotes activity, health and leisure by encouraging people to spend time outdoors in a fun and engaging way. Participants take part in hands-on bushcraft activities, games, and exploration, helping them stay active without it feeling like exercise. Being in nature supports both physical and mental wellbeing, helping to reduce stress, improve mood, and encourage relaxation. Our sessions also provide a positive leisure opportunity for families and individuals, offering a safe, welcoming space to socialise, learn new skills, and enjoy time outdoors.
