Older people living in Hammersmith and Fulham deserve to remain independent whilst still enjoying later life. We provide day trips, summer outings and a shopping service via a disabled adapted minibus with a wheelchair lift. Our current minibus is over 12 years old. We need to buy a new minibus so that it complies with Transport for London's Low and Ultra Low Emission Zones. The new minibus will also be easier for people with mobility issues to board, as it has new design features that will assist with entrance and egress. Day trips and outings are a wonderful boost for older people who don’t have the chance to get out and about especially when the sun is shining. We also use our minibus, where we pick up clients, some in wheelchairs and take them to and from a large local supermarket. This allows them to socialize with other passengers, retain their independence and dignity as they do things for themselves. We will also use the bus with volunteers to do shopping for the housebound.

What we'll deliver:

• 80 older residents will be able to go on outings every year
• 240 older residents will be able to go on day trips to places of interest every year
• 2000 individual shopping trips will be provided to older residents every year
• Cleaner method of transportation that will contribute to London's cleaner air

We are currently using the minibus with the aid of volunteers to help shop for older residents who have been told to self isolate. This means that they don't have to leave home for essential items and stay safe during the outbreak and put less pressure on the NHS. Without knowing how long this situation may last and whether it will return, our minibus will be a vital tool to help those unable to leave their homes.
