Age UK Cheshire have been an inaugral partner of the Age-friendly Cheshire West Partnership since 2018. The Partnership is a collaboration between people with lived experience and representatives from a range of organisations and the private business sector. The partnership is responding to the opportunities and challenges of population ageing and working to ensure that Cheshire West and Chester is a place where people can live helathy and active later lives, participate in the activities they value, and contribute to their communities, for as long as possible.
Age UK Cheshire is a local social enterprise and charity that is dedicated to later life. We co-produce excellent services, make opportunities, connect people meaningfully and influence positive change. Because of our work, every older person in Cheshire has the opportunity to live their best life.
The charity was formed in 1983 and in 2024 we successfully merged with Age UK Cheshire East. We have welcomed new services and staff to become one charity that covers the whole of both Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester Council areas. We provide a variety of support services and information to older people, their family and carers which includes information and advice, dementia support, benefit entitlement checks, form filling and social activities.
The charity employs 87 members of staff and enjoys the support of over 160 fantastic volunteers who support our work and who are hugely appreciated. The organisation is governed by 11 volunteer Trustees who provide oversight on the work of the charity and ensure that it complies with relevant charity and company legislation.
We are running this campaign to reach more people, to continue and develop the work of the Age-friendly Cheshire West Partnership and to expand promotion of how older people contribute positively to society. By enabling helathier, more active lives older people will have their voices heard, have choice on their involvement in their local communities and we will promote the benefits of access to businesses and services for older people.
