The idea
The funding will recruit an Age-friendly Coordinator to work across Cheshire West, leading and coordinating the Age-friendly Cheshire West Partnership.
By 2032 the number of older people in the borough aged 65 and over is forecast to increase by almost 20%, from around 78,000 in 2022 to around 93,000 in 2032. The Age-friendly Partnership needs funding via Age UK Cheshire to support awareness raising and deliver projects to improve the age-friendliness across the borough.
We will:
Build and develop collaborative relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders.
Harness the voices and participation of local people to make the best use of community assets and improve access to services.
Monitor and evaluate projects and activities on the Partnership Action Plan.
Introduce and implement the Take a Seat campaign.
Promotion of the Drive Safely for Longer programme.
Promote activity of International Day of Older People and it's theme of recognising the invaluable role of older persons.
What we'll deliver
- Recruit 25 Age-Friendly 'Ambassadors'
- 100 venues to sign up to the Take A Seat campaign
- Provide 6 Drive Safely for Longer activities
Why it's a great idea
The Coordinator will the lead the Partnership to improve services and access to enable older people's voices to be heard in:
providing access to advice and information
creating more accessible and supportive places
reducing social isolation and loneliness
becoming more dementia friendly and inclusive
reducing food and fuel poverty
Many age-friendly initiatives are beneficial to the whole community, not just older people.
The role will coordinate and support direct engagement with a wide variety of stakeholders in community, voluntary, business and statutory organisations.
Age-friendly communities are places where people of all ages are treated with respect, older adults feel included, valued and connected, enabling happy, healthy, active lives and increasing economic participation amongst the over 50s.
This project will facilitate a new way of working, with the continuation of the Age-friendly Partnership and a focus on being self-sustaining into the future.
