Arts, culture & heritage

A sucessful arts project. We taught how to build structures, design lanterns, we included dance and live music. The parade showed in a very practical way how the arts actually affects the local community, its economy and its confidence. It gave a clear example of how being an artist is a great and worthwhile profession with many opportunities. It brought our locality into line with other favoured 'arts' places like Brighton. Our heritage is filled with Bohemian artists living and holidaying in this area. There has always been a parade in Lancing and its loss was felt deeply by this community. This year we are hoping to increase the arts in the area by having more varied acts, performers, providing more artists and materials to the community, schools and groups. We give all members of the community regardless of age or ability an opportunity to design, build, join in and be a big part of making this very public and beautiful parade happen.
