Carnaval del Pueblo Association is a not for profit organisation that exists to create an understanding and increase public awareness of the vibrant cultural heritage of the 19 Latin American countries. Our flagship event is the Carnaval del Pueblo which celebrates and shares the best in authentic Latin American cultural heritage with Londoners.
From an audience of 1,000 people in 1998, Carnaval del Pueblo swiftly grew and by 2007 the annual Carnaval event drew an astounding 130,000 people to Burgess Park.
The next few years hold much promise for us as Carnaval del Pueblo is now positioned as an important player in the Elephant and Castle regeneration programme. To that end, Carnaval del Pueblo is working in conjunction with Southwark Council, Peabody housing association and other local stakeholders. We are currently working on delivering Plaza Latina in August 2017, as well as launching our shops at our new East Street/Walworth premises in preparation for the large scale Carnaval del Pueblo event in Burgess Park in August 2018.
