Central YMCA is the world’s first YMCA, and a leading education, health and wellbeing charity. Our mission is to transform lives and improve the physical and mental health of our communities, with a focus on reducing health inequalities and enabling everyone to live a fulfilled life and contribute positively to society.
We believe everyone should have the chance to thrive, regardless of their background, ethnicity, gender or disability; tailoring our approach to meet the specific needs of our community.
We promote learning and the development of new skills with our educational Study Programmes, Apprenticeships and Commercial Courses. We specifically support young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) who have struggled previously in school, who are falling out other educational systems, and/or who face additional challenges.
In addition to tackling education disparities, we actively reduce health inequalities by facilitating access to specialised projects. In our wellbeing hubs in Central London, we deliver bespoke programmes for the management of HIV+ and cardiac conditions diagnoses; create spaces for the older members of our society to exercise safely; and encourage the growth and development of our young people – particularly those at risk through mentoring and personal development support.
