Accessible Rocking Inclusion Package

Accessible Rocking Inclusion Package

Rachelle Harte By Rachelle Harte

Thousands of people in our communities do not go to events as they have complex needs and the facilities are not adequate. This project is for a robust Inclusion package so that no one has to miss out

Chislehurst Delivery stage

pledged of £6,923

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

Chislehurst Rocks and Bec Rec Rocks are free to attend live music festivals run by volunteers from the community based on input from local people. We have spent many hours working within the community with groups of people that don't attend, finding out what was preventing them from attending. We learned re are thousands of people in our communities that don't attend events because they have complex needs (their families also do not attend) or because they have no one to go along to the event with. Together with these groups we have put together a robust inclusion package. This includes: accessible toilet complete with hoist, showers, adult changing tables, lift and attendant, Sun flower lanyards , training for all the event staff, volunteers and suppliers), downloadable social stories, online Herbert protocol to complete in advance and much more. As a result the number of visitors to Chis Rocks almost doubled in 2019. We need funds to pay for this package.

What we'll deliver:

  • Accessible toilets with Hoists, showers, adult changing tables and an attendant
  • Wheel chair tracking & Sun flower lanyards
  • Volunteering Opportunities & training
  • A quiet zone to get away from the hubbub
  • Ear defenders
  • Champions to offer support before and at the event
  • Colourscape Arts Installation
  • Therapy donkeys
  • Downloadable social stories
  • Early access for accessible rocking and talking tables for isolated people

Why it's a great idea:

This project is a great idea because it means that thousands of people that could not previously take part in events and their families can enjoy a great day out in their community. This helps with physical and mental well being. The wider community benefits from building a stonger more inclusive community

Steps to get it done:

  • Event plans presented to SAG and Emergency Services
  • Plans aproved
