Updates
Wow -- we've now appointed both our new staff - Youth Worker Nathan Butler and Youth Support Worker Aadhi Anbukkani. They'll be reaching out across Upton this summer to both young people and community contacts, and doing all the preparation to open our doors in September. Once open, the Heath will be based in the Church Hall at the United Reformed Church (next to The Wheatsheaf), for all 11-19 year olds on a Friday evening. An exciting next step for Upton, and all very thrilling 🙌👍😊
Many thanks to Upton AAFC who sadly folded last year, and have donated residual funds to the Heath Youth Club. The donation is in honour of Reggie Bedford, who was a big part of the football club, and also of the old Upton Youth Club. We are proud to accept this donation in his memory - the picture here is of his memorial seat in Upton Lodge Gardens
We're very excited that our new Youth Worker has now started and is getting to know Upton. He's meeting some key people around the community and as soon as we have our Youth Support Worker in place, they'll both be connecting directly with our young people to find out more about their needs and wishes. This is a critical step for us as we're passionate about being youth-led at every step of the way. We'll be opening the doors of our new Youth Club at the start of the Autumn term, and already have received a generous donation of games equipment, as well as raising extra money from around the Community via our Lions Club sponsored runner in the TCS London Marathon.
Thank you for your support to us thus far! Please let us know if you do not wish to continue to receive updates from us. We're currently advertising for a qualified youth worker (to degree level, JNC Level 6 in Youth Work) to lead the club for one evening per week. They will be supported by a Youth Support Worker and volunteers. If you know of anyone who might like to apply for the role, please would you pass this on? They can email us at [email protected] for more information and an application pack, and more details are also on our Facebook page "The Heath Youth Club". Many thanks to all of you!! Sue
Thanks to CWACC and all of you 61 backers big and small from around the community, we’ve now reached our funding target early and can start on recruiting a Youth Leader and Assistant in January, with a view to opening next summer. We're hugely grateful -- massive thanks to all!! We're also very excited and thrilled that we’re on our way, and look forward to being able to support our young people around Upton so much better into the future. You'll be able to keep up with our progress on our Facebook page "The Heath Youth Club"
