Wishing Hearts is a local grassroots organisation working to combat loneliness and social isolation in older people living in Kent. We do this by providing one of a kind, special experiences by fulfilling their one 'wish'. Previous examples of wish nominations have been:
To visit a lavender field, to see a bag pipe performer play one last time, a ride in a red MG, a visit from a shire horse, a trip to the coast, or to reconnect with an old friend or family member. These are just a few examples of the joy we have been able to bring to local older people so far and are hoping, with your help, that we can grant even more.
Wishes are in their nature, unique and therefore, our services are unique in the way that we are able to provide tailored, person-centred support to our beneficiaries. They are empowered to craft their own wish which we have seen, first hand, how benefical these experiences have been for their physical and mental wellbeing.
We also provide support through community events in the form of bi-weekly coffee mornings and regular tea parties to bring older people together in an inclusive. welcoming environment. This enables them to build their own social networks, recieve that extra support they may need and most importantly, engage in social connections with others living in the same areas.
