Our project aims to unite the village community by creating a unique stained glass window for Prees School, learning, using and celebrating an endangered craft. Collaborating with a professional stained glass artist, children from the school, villagers, and care home residents will work together to design and produce a lasting legacy that showcases creativity, inclusivity, and teamwork. This piece will beautify the school, connect generations and help preserve a rare artisan skill.

What we'll deliver:

  • Studio sessions learning about, designing and creating stained glass
  • A project worked on by all ages
  • A new stained glass window to be installed in the school

Why it's a great idea:

- Produce a beautiful new, original artwork - a stained glass window. - Strengthens intergenerational bonds by uniting children, villagers, and care home residents in a creative endeavour. - Promotes inclusivity and teamwork across the community. - Provides an opportunity to learn and preserve an endangered artisan skill. - Leaves a lasting legacy that celebrates local talent and heritage. - Encourages pride in communal collaboration and craftsmanship.

Steps to get it done:

  • Designing the cartoon (the paper design)
  • Cutting the glass
  • Painting the glass
  • Firing the glass
  • leading and cementing the glass
  • Installing the window
