The idea
Our aim is to hang a banner printed with a poem about A Rare Bee (written by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy – permission given) on a wall of our local bus garage. The bus garage is as busy as a bee hive, and the buses coming home at dusk makes us think of a bee hive at the end of the day. The banner will be coated with a super new product branded PURETi, which is a harmless substrate made of Titanium Nitrate. This substrate uses light to activate the agent which then transforms NOx into harmless by-products (H2O, CO2) and mineral nitrates (CaNO3). The water sheets streak free across the banner and falls on the Bzz Garage garden below – a community run garden created to attract bees.

Why it's a great idea
This is the 3rd catalytic poem in the country, the first one was hung on Sheffield Hallam University wall, and the poem was by Simon Armitage. We have already put two lines of a poem (The Gardener's Daughter, by Tennyson) on another wall at the Bus Garage, behind the Open Orchard Fruit trees. This poem will celebrate bees and clean the air at the same time. What's not to like?

The Poet Laureate has agreed to allow us to use one of her poems for this project without asking for a royalty. The bus garage loves the idea and has promised to contribute to the fund raising effort.
