Chadsgrove Educational Trust provides bespoke personalised educational packages that are tailored to suit each student’s individual needs. We are a small college providing extended learning opportunities for students aged 19-25 with physical disabilities and/or complex medical needs. At Chadsgrove Educational Trust we believe that every young person should have the opportunity to develop educationally and enjoy a fulfilled life. We are passionate about maximising personal achievement and challenging students to reach their full potential. We believe that every young person should be given the opportunity to develop a real purpose to their life. We are innovating all the time with new and exciting projects to maximise the learning potential of all of our students. We are the only Specialist 19-25 provision in Worcestershire, so are uniquely positioned to provide exceptional education and support in this area. Our three key aims are to be focused and prioritise the learning of skills that translate to real life experiences to prepare students for a fulfilling life outside of the education system and to make learning fun as enjoyment in learning helps memory retention.
The curriculum is broad and reflects the complex needs of the learners and aims to develop learners English and Mathematics, as well as community involvement, health and wellbeing and skills for the workplace. We believe that it is important for our students to engage with the local community, feel and know that they can contribute and also gain an understanding of wider issues like the environment, the climate crisis and how they can do their part to help address this. The outdoor area including the gazebo and vegetable garden is central to this aim. The outdoor space will enable the students to learn outdoors irrespective of the weather. Our students participate in several activities in the community, including going to cafes, ordering and paying for their food. These skills have been used when they volunteer at a local café. Planting a vegetable garden, cultivating and looking after it will teach the students about sustainable farming and responsibility. By selling the produce in a local café and donating to the foodbank, the students will get a sense of achievement that something they have created has value to the community and also helps the environment.
