The idea
With your support, our vision is to craft a vibrant community driven shop, offering affordable furniture to all. These funds will also help us to continue our mission of testing, repairing and providing essential white goods to the people of Reading.
Our fundraising goals include:
Establishing a dedicated white goods testing area, necessitating structural changes like wall removals and the installation of new plumbing and electrical systems.
Procuring essential supplies such as paints, partitioning walls, and other materials to fashion an inviting retail space.
Refreshing the walls with a fresh coat of paint.
Cultivating an atmosphere that welcomes our valued customers and clients.
Installing energy-efficient lighting throughout the building.
Incorporating additional electrical outlets for optimal lighting arrangements.
Enhancing visibility with new signage, ensuring our presence is well-known.
Extra funds raised will go towards a van!
Thank you for your generosity!
What we'll deliver
- A refurbished new furniture shop in the heart of Reading
Why it's a great idea
We will be able to open our furniture shop on Cardiff Road to the public offering affordable pre loved furniture and white goods to the people of Reading. For 30 years we have served over 20,000 people with over 30,000 items of furniture receiving a new home.
We want to be able to continue offering quality pre loved furniture to people in need for the foreseeable future and with the funds raised to turn our warehouse into a shop we will be able to continue this charitable work.
Steps to get it done
- Painting the walls
- The creation of the white goods testing area
- New energy saving lights
- Furniture out on display
- Opening day!
Having to relocate our furniture shop from Northumberland Ave to our warehouse on Cardiff Road was not an easy decision, but with increased running costs to the charity we want to be able to utilise the warehouse. We own the warehouse and will therefore save the monthly rental on a rented building.
Short term, the ability to convert the warehouse into a retail shop, will enable us to both continue to operate a pre loved furniture shop and to continue our charitable work of offering furniture to our clients in temporary accommodation, all under one roof.
