Why it's a great idea
Our Muay Thai academy brings huge benefits to the local area of Walsall. Benefiting individuals of all ages, providing them with an outlet for physical fitness, self-defense skills, and personal growth. The academy targets at-risk youth, offering a positive alternative to negative influences, reducing crime rates, and promoting discipline and respect. By addressing prevalent issues such as obesity, lack of physical activity, and low self-esteem, our academy helps improve the overall health and well-being of the community. Walsall needs this academy to empower its residents, creating a safer, healthier, and more resilient society.
The transformative power of Muay Thai fosters essential attributes including self-discipline, confidence, self-awareness, and respect for oneself and others. Our academy provides a unique platform for forging meaningful connections with fellow students who may not otherwise cross paths due to disparate educational backgrounds or limited daily interactions
Steps to get it done
- Our first community muay thai session for those on government support
- Consistent and well managed weekly events for disadvantaged youths, giving stability/consistency
- Local Authorities session discussing social issues such as knife crime and the dangers associated
- Our first mental health awareness session
With over two decades of experience in the realm of Muay Thai, encompassing both competitive fighting in the UK and Thailand as well as teaching, my expertise in this martial art is extensive. Having successfully trained my own son from the age of 8 until he reached 18, during which time he achieved numerous junior titles, I have demonstrated a proven track record in developing exceptional talent. In 2013, I established Blacksmith Muay Academy, previously known as Foundry Muay Thai, where we have proudly produced numerous Junior and Adult Champions.
My recent involvement as a youth worker for the ACT CIC organization in Birmingham last summer shed light on the potential to implement similar endeavors in Walsall. The experience sparked a profound interest in initiating breakfast clubs, facilitating interactions with young offenders, and implementing school holiday programs to proactively combat crime within our youth community.
