The idea

ATO TALKS is a forward-thinking project designed to spark honest conversations about gambling harm with young people aged 16–24. Based at our quirky Tamworth HQ, we offer a relaxed, youth-led space to explore the emotional, physical, and financial impact of gambling — whether experienced directly or through friends or family.
Through real stories and peer-led discussions, our holistic approach includes 1:1 support, helping break down stigma, build understanding, and strengthen resilience. We also offer practical coping strategies and tailored guidance to support each young person’s journey.

Shaped by lived experience and grounded in UK youth culture, ATO TALKS connects in a way that feels real, relatable, and non-judgemental. Our work supports public health goals by tackling gambling harm before it escalates.

With your support, ATO TALKS can reach more communities, give more young people the tools to speak up, take control, and shape a healthier future.

What we'll deliver

  • A safe space for young residents of Tamworth to come and discuss/explore gambling harm
  • Support & improve wellbeing of 30 young residents in the next 12 months
  • Campaign Video bringing project to life, led by the end user, highlighting impact.

Why it's a great idea

ATO TALKS delivers vital support to young people, particularly in deprived areas where bookmakers often have a stronger presence and gambling harm is more prevalent. Our Tamworth HQ offers a relaxed, youth-friendly space — far from a classroom or corporate setting — where real conversations happen over coffee, a game of football, or on the PlayStation.

This approach breaks down barriers, making it easier for young people to open up and feel heard. Sessions are shaped by lived experience, creating trust and connection that traditional services often lack.

Each participant leaves with an ATO Support Sheet tailored to their needs, highlighting ways to improve wellbeing, reduce risk, and access further help if needed. Whether it’s building resilience, increasing awareness, or simply being listened to, ATO TALKS provides meaningful, early intervention that helps prevent gambling harm before it escalates.
