Inspired by Sir Ken Robinson's No 1 TED talk on how schools can kill creativity, reading half a book on the point of school and a trip to a festival, STEAM Co. was conceived and co-founded by a dad, Nick Corston with other parents, teachers, artists and other creative carers in his sons' primary school in Paddington in 2011.
For 8 years they brought the school community together to run mini creativity festivals called STEAM Co. Days to inspire the children with creativity.
The school community at St Saviour's Primary run the days to this day, but Nick and his sons moved on.
Sir Ken endorsed Nick for a TED Fellowship and having secured ad hoc support from companies as diverse as Google, Barclays and The Co-op, three years ago Nick gave up his career (and life!) to roll it out across the country as a non-profit Community Interest Company.
We believe we need to let our kids dream and help them find their passion. Their art.
STEAM Co. is on a mission to put #CREATIVITYFIRST in our Schools, Work and Lives, because Art Connects.
We see Art as the Combined Power of Creativity, Tech and People to Inspire Children, Create Careers and Engage Communities.
We Campaign for, Celebrate and Action Creativity in School Communities.
