About the Project Creator
Our organisation is about breaking down the stigma/ barriers around mental health and culture, raising awareness of how mental health can affect people in different ways and forms, educating society about having cultural and mental health awareness can change the way we act and think when dealing with the vulnerable people in our society. We work at grassroot level since June 2017 with one of the most deprived communities in East Lancashire by supporting/ empowering men and women with mental health conditions and diagnosis and learning difficulties/ disabilities to gaining equal access to education, employment and training by giving them choices to take chances and make positive changes in their life.
Our organisation is very dedicated in making positive changes to one of the most vulnerable groups in the community (men and women with mental health conditions/ learning disabilities). We provide befriending & mentoring scheme to meet the client's assessed needs & to reduce relapses with their mental health by inviting them to attend selfcare groups, health and wellbeing groups, cookery and bakery groups, health and fitness exercise groups, information, advices and guidance sessions, employability & training course, embroidery course, gardening groups and cycling and walking groups. We have planned to open our own counselling service for our clients to meet their psychological and emotional needs as this has been something that has been requested by them and other health and social care professionals as there is always a long waiting list for our client to get access to counselling service. To reduce and prevent relapses with the client's mental health and wellbeing, social isolation, loneliness this in house counselling service will benefit all our clients. We always try our best to support our clients in the best possible ways we can by ensuring them that we will always provide them with a safe environment to learn in. We continue to give our clients the opportunities to volunteer in our organisation and support them back into education, employability and training. Over the last 7 years we have support over 100 women into education, employment and training which as significant reduced their relapses in their mental health and general wellbeing. All our members of staff are trained professionals, they also volunteer & come from different path of live and have lived experience which is why our project is a very unique service.
