Dear All,
I write to you today as a former player, great supporter and current President of Shireshead and Forton Cricket Club, because in the past, or at present, you have been involved with the club or are resident in our wonderful village.
As some of you may know, our club has been thriving since 1909 and we currently have 5 senior teams including a ladies’ team and over 100 juniors so we pride ourselves on being a progressive family club.
We need to keep moving forwards at pace to survive in the world of cricket and the wider community. Our club aims to provide the best cricketing facilities we can supporting the development of cricketers of all ages.
Our 2025 Objectives are to support this endeavour by:
- building a new set of nets, doubling the netting capacity at the ground
- purchasing a second set of covers to enable weather protection of senior and junior tracks concurrently
- refurbishment of the current covers which took a punishing in the autumn 2024 storms
We must do this to continue to provide excellent cricket facilities and to ensure the club continues to thrive at the centre of the Forton Community Life. We hope all will join in this focused fundraising to help the club pay for these important cricketing facilities.
The committee have utilised the last of the clubs financial reserves to get the nets project underway so that there is both a visible physical objective as well as the financial fundraising objective we seek to achieve through this specific 2025 Season Crowd Funding Endeavour.
We are asking friends, players past and present, and associates If they can help us with a donation towards the cost.
Denis Yates
Shireshead and Forton CC President
