The idea
2025 sees SHFCC continuing our relentless focus on ensuring that the facilities we have provide the best opportunities for people to participate in cricket. We have 4 senior teams, a ladies team and 5 junior teams utilizing our ground and facilities every day of the week from early April to late September.
Our 2025 objective is to increase the availability of the facilities by 1). doubling the amount of practice net cricket at any point in time through the building of a second 2 lane cricket net, and 2) increasing the utilization of the cricket square by enabling 2 wickets to be protected from rain and excessive sunshine so that playable wickets are available to support both senior and junior cricket (which are played on different wickets because of their different yardage) by the purchase of a 2nd set of covers and the refurbishment of our current covers.
What we'll deliver
- Build 2nd set of Cricket Nets
- Purchase a new set of covers
- Refurbish current Cricket Track Covers
Why it's a great idea
NETS: by having two separate 2 lane practice nets juniors can be practicing softball cricket in one, while seniors practice hard ball cricket safely in the other.
COVERS: our current cricket square enables us to have 8 rotating tracks operating throughout the season, but with only one set of covers we are not able to protect concurrently both a senior and junior track in the same 24 hr period from what ever are the demanding weather conditions, be that rain or equally damaging intense sunshine.
Steps to get it done
- Nets to be complete by 1st July
- New covers to be purchased & deployed by 1st August
- Refurbishment of current covers to be complete by end of August
