Action Transport Theatre will provide a monthly family film club, creating an accessible and ’relaxed’ alternative to a cinema experience that is suitable for SEND/neurodivergant children
ATT will re-start its family film club in the wonderful new theatre and arts venue in Whitby Park, Ellesmere Port due to open in spring/summer 2022. The new provision will have a particular emphasis on creating an environment that is supportive of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities or who are neurodivergent. – this might include support staff, break out spaces, alterations to light and sound and an atmosphere that celebrates difference! We will work with families and disability services to co-design the project.. 500 children and their families will be invited to grab a chair (or a bean bag!), help themselves to drinks and popcorn and enjoy a 'U'-rated movie - from vintage Disney to modern animated classics.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Families in Ellesemere Port with children who have learning disabilities or who are neurodivergent tell us how challenging it can be to find spaces and activities that are welcoming and accessible for them and their children., Trips to the cinema can be a real challenge due to price, due to anxiety of being disruptive to others or due to challenging sensory experiences. The benefits of this provision will include - Increased access to arts and culture for families at risk of missing out - Improved wellbeing - Decreased social isolation

Brilliant news, thanks everyone!
Whoop, 30 people have pledged since fundraising began!
Thank you so much to those who have pledged their support so far. We're at the 25% mark and today is 'pitching day' - we'll share our idea with Cheshire West Council who will assess if they can offer a lump sum from some of their own funds. They'll base this partly on how well it fits their priorities but also on how much support they can see for the idea so far - so you've been a helpful part of this! If you're able to share our social media posts or a link to anyone else you think might get behind the idea - we'd be grateful again. With love from ATT
