The group is for Stroke Survivors in the area of Cheshire East and surrounding area to meet together in a fun, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
Our Aims:
Avoid Social Isolation.
Provide a safe and relaxing enviroment, peer support and practical tools to help rebuild confidence and develop new ways of communicating
Make new friends
Provide emotional support and assist with there wellbeing
The stroke survivors that we support feel that they matter and are valued as members of our community.
Trips events guests are essential in tghe Survivors wellbeing and social contact
Objectives
We help them to regain there confidence in there communication whilst being supported with there difficulties after a stroke
These difficulties are a mixture of Aphasia, Apraxia, Communication, Vocabulary and Language
We provide weekly activities and we follow suggestions of useful activities given to us from professionals to help with communication and its an opportunity to chat with other survivors and volunteers with a drink and a biscuit
We look at each of there individuals needs and encourage them with there well being , confidence and self -esteem
The majority of our volunteers understand what it's like to have lived through a stroke
The volunteers have been DSB checked and we encourage relevant training to extend there knowledge of speech and langauage difficulties and stroke training
