The idea
Withernsea Rugby Union Football Club has an established local heritage with a wide variety of players past and present members who have been proud to don the club's shirt. We now wish to ensure that the club has a secure financial foundation and call on our comrades and associates to please support us during these unique times. The clubs aim is not only to ensure a sustainable financial future for generations to come but to also use this unique window of opportunity to address some pitch flooding issues by installing some French drainage in conjunction with the RFU / Natwest Ground Force and the Withernsea Big Local Lottery funding initiatives who have kindly donated a total of £1000 towards our project. We would also like to upgrade our old floodlighting which was installed in 1993. Due to lost income sources such as subs, sponsorship and cancelled club events we simply wish to call on our associates and former club members to boost out coffers during these strange times.
What we'll deliver
- A foundation to ensure financial sustainability during a cancelled season.
- Utilise this window of opportunity to address pitch flooding issues
- To provide an opportunity for our community to participate in Rugby Union.
- To use any available spare funding to repair our flood lighting which was installed in 1993
Why it's a great idea
At the heart of Rugby is a unique ethos which it has retained over the years. Not only is the Game played to the Laws, but within the spirit of the Laws. Through discipline, control and mutual self-respect, a fellowship and sense of fair play are forged, defining Rugby as the Game it is. Withernsea Rugby Union Football promotes the RFU's 5 core principles of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship within our community.
Steps to get it done
- The pitch drainage will be installed preventing flooding
- We will repair / replace our old flood lighting
