Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

Our ethos is grounded on social change. World Heart Beat has been mentoring and nurturing young people since 2009. Transforming the lives of thousands of young people, our aim is to inspire young people to reach beyond their limits. We have the opportunity to extend our impact to a wider and more diverse community. For £1 a year for 50 years, we have been awarded a building in the regeneration area of Nine Elms at Embassy Gardens. We now need to transform the building into a great venue where the London community can enjoy at least 150 concerts a year, a place that young people can learn music, thrive in the community and launch their career's. Our cultural rich programme will reflect the diversity of the world. We are asking you to help fund the crucial first part of our building at which will cascade the developer's additional commitment to install the mezzanine and façade to our specification. This will complete the £425k of the £1,180m building costs.

What we'll deliver:

  • The funds will go towards the building costs that are needed to bring this new music venue to the heart of the community
  • The building of three specialist teaching music rooms
  • Engage hundreds more young people in bespoke music tuition with a free or low cost model for disadvantaged families
  • Significantly enrich London’s cultural offer building a new music venue, with easy access from all of London

Why it's a great idea:

World Heart Beat Music Academy provides high-quality music tuition and exciting personal development to children and young people living in London. Every week we welcome 350 students to our academy where 70% are on low cost, partial or full bursaries. With your help we can build this incredible facility that will enable us to double our capacity and teach more young people. An antidote to the major cuts in music education, we will be building a world class venue for the enjoyment of the wider community. A facility that is non elitist to listen to live music from leading artists, with a rich programme that encompasses music from all corners of the world. World Heart Beat has a proven track record of helping our students to lift their aspirations, develop a viable career and maximise their potential, as musicians and world citizens. We look forward to opening our doors to many more young people.

It places music in the heart of the community and makes it accessible to all. World Heart Beat strives at taking the disadvantage and inequality out of learning, where children from low-income families can learn to play an instrument free of charge. World Heart Beat is the perfect inspiring antidote to the vast cuts in music education. Last year World Heart Beat provided over 10,000 student hours of tuition. Students are supported throughout the whole creative ecology from grassroots to pursue successful, sustainable careers in the creative industry.
