The idea

Aldridge Shed is celebrating its tenth year and has recently relocated to a larger, more suitable site at Maybrook Industrial Estate, Walsall Wood. To support our growing community and enhance the safety and reliability of our workshop, we aim to upgrade our heavily used table saw and band saw. Our current hobby-grade machines struggle to meet demand, frequently breaking down under pressure. By investing in industrial-grade, durable equipment, we can confidently take on a broader range of projects for our members, local residents, and community groups. These upgrades will not only ensure safer operation but also allow us to accept work we currently have to decline, strengthening our contribution to the local community for years to come.

What we'll deliver

  • Industrial grade panel saw
  • industrial grade bandsaw

Why it's a great idea

- Enhanced capacity to take on more varied and complex projects, accommodating the growing needs of the community.
- Improved user experience, enabling members and visitors to work more confidently and effectively without interruptions caused by equipment failures.
- Increased opportunities for collaboration with local community groups, boosting the organisation’s outreach and impact.
- Strengthened ability to support educational workshops and skill development for all age groups.
- Promotion of sustainability by reducing waste associated with frequent equipment replacements.

Steps to get it done

  • Open day for the public in September and November of 2026
  • Installation of the machines and training in their use
