The idea
We want to create a wildlife garden for The Mandeville School in Aylesbury.
Over the past year the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust has been working with Year 8 Science classes at The Mandeville School to help design a wildlife garden for their school.
Students and teachers have already started work on the wildlife garden, and the classes have learnt about different habitats and the different things that wildlife needs to survive. A weekly after school club has been set up to help create some of the features of the wildlife area.
Raising these funds will allow us to help The Mandeville School complete their wildlife area and install new equipment and facilities, including a wildflower meadow, camera traps, and an outdoor classroom.

Why it's a great idea
People are healthier and happier when they can enjoy time in natural open spaces. There is strong evidence to show that people benefit from improved physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing through regular contact with nature. This is especially true of young people who are becoming increasingly disconnected from wild spaces.
Distance from nature can negatively impact young people’s wellbeing, confidence and education, along with having negative impacts on nature. This project is an important opportunity to engage young people with their local wildlife and get them closer to nature, whilst also bringing about positive conservation and environmental benefits.
