The idea
Wyre Forest Foodbank, based within Franche Community Church, Kidderminster, currently delivers between 80 and 100 boxes each week to approximately 50 households, including many families with children. This is a four-fold increase on the situation prior to lock-down.
We anticipate that demand for foodbank support will rise again in the next few months.
We want to offer each household a very special Christmas box containing all they will need to make a wonderful traditional Christmas dinner. Plus we will also add chocolates, treats, toiletries, and other gift items to make ensure that our vulnerable individuals and families have a great Christmas.
What we'll deliver
- Provide 100 Christmas special food boxes
- Provide 75 bags of fresh fruit and vegetables
Why it's a great idea
As Covid cases begin to rise again, especially as we approach the winter months, together with the end of the furlough scheme, we anticipate a further increase in the number of households and families in need of the support the foodbank provides.
We want to be able to meet that demand and give hope at Christmas to those experiencing vulnerability (and in need of food) in the Wyre Forest community.
Steps to get it done
- Purchase tinned and packet items with long shelf-life
- Purchase treats, gifts and toiletries
- Pack Christmas boxes a week before delivery
- Purchase (and bag up) fresh produce a few days before parcels are due to be delivered
- Deliver food parcels in time for Christmas!
