The idea

The Show Will Go On! June 6th 2020

The virtual fest, using an internet stream, will sustain the music element of the postponed Waterloo Festival and deliver the theme of "Unity in Community" to celebrate the cultural and ethnic diversity of our area.

*Watch our video above!*

The virtual fest will include live set recordings filmed in the iconic setting of Old Christ Church - a stunning "listed building" venue. The streaming will showcase a variety of music types and styles reflecting the rich ethnic composition of Liverpool City Region including performances by a Chinese Youth Orchestra, an Irish Ceilidh Band, music by African refugees and Klezmerish - a band of classically trained musicians playing "music of the travellers". There will also be rock music played by 15 of our area's finest talented bands and musicians.

If it remains unsafe to carry out our project on the proposed broadcast date, an alternative schedule will be adopted: safety is paramount.

What we'll deliver

  • A twelve hour streaming session of live music on 6th June 2020
  • Broadcast of twenty acts performing 30 minute live sets

Why it's a great idea

The project will:
* Sustain the music element from the postponed festival by
using technology allowing "the show to go on"
* Support our resilient community by delivering entertainment into people's homes to boost morale and benefit the mental health and wellbeing of local people
* Connect people and bring them together. Social interaction challenges isolation and helps retain contact between people during a period of lockdown
* Protect our vibrant local music scene by providing the acts with much-needed fees and a facility to showcase their talents locally and worldwide via the internet
* Promote a positive and "switched on" image of our area and promote civic pride
* Provide the facility for viewers to make financial contributions to four local charities that would have received support from income generated at the postponed event.
