We are passionate about ensuring that Vintage by the Sea Festival can continue to succeed in Morecambe. 2023 was our 10th anniversary and was by far the best festival to date. Now we need to work hard to ensure the festival can continue to thrive in Morecambe. We are a small team based in Morecambe who programme the festival with family activities, street theatre, free children's workshops, music and performance. Since the pandemic the costs of delivering the festival have significantly increased: generators, infrastructure, materials, stewards, marquees all cost so much more than they did when we started 10 years ago. Vintage by the Sea is a not-for-profit festival. It is delivered collectively by several partners including, Deco Publique, HemingwayDesign, Lancaster City Council and Morecambe BID. Through this partnership we deliver an incredible family programme and this is your chance to help back the festival so that it continues to be a success for the whole of Morecambe.

What we'll deliver:

  • Increase the number of free workshops for children and families
  • Increase the performance programme that animates the festival and Morecambe Promenade
  • Increase the pop up music and dance activities with community groups as part of the festival

Why it's a great idea:

When Vintage by the Sea happens in Morecambe there are many benefits to the town and also its visitors: - The festival brings communities together creating a joyous weekend for people to spend with family and friends. - Many visitors come as full families with multiple generations of people sharing memories and making new ones. - The festival helps local restaurants, cafes and bars thrive with many recording bumper sales which help them survive the quieter winter in the town. - The festival brings visitors to Morecambe, many who come back at other times of the year and spend money in our town. - Our data shows that Vintage by the Sea brings people to stay in the town all weekend so hotels are full which supports our local economy. - Vintage by the Sea is now a nationally recognised event in the summer calendar, helping to put Morecambe firmly on the map. - The team of producers at Vintage by the Sea works with young people in the local area to teach them about creative careers.

Steps to get it done:

  • Deliver Community Projects in advance of the festival
  • Commission artists as part of the programme
  • Confirm orders for infrastructure
  • Launch the Festival Programme
  • Deliver the Marketing Campaign
  • Festival Weekend!

In 2023 we celebrated our 10th Anniversary and in early 2024 we were awarded Marketing Lancashire's Large Event of the Year at their Annual Tourism Awards. We are so proud of this accolade and the recognition of the hard work which goes into delivering our amazing programme. We know we can't sit back and have to work hard to deliver the best festival for everyone to experience and enjoy. This includes ensuring we fundraise to bring the most exciting and engaging programme of activities for our participants and audiences. We are passionate believers that access to high-quality creative opportunities should be free for all to enjoy.
