We aim to deliver access to education workshops to higher education and one-to-one workshops. The project aims to clear up misconceptions and to give training to individuals to apply for undergraduate and and postgraduate admissions which individuals who are not used to UCAS can access. these include individuals from forced migration backgrounds and other with limited resources. The whole project will focus on rebuilding confidence within people, help them apply to universities and scholarships, depending on their situation, and will finally focus on building their resilience using trauma informed approaches.
Individual support
We work with people on a 1-2-1 basis helping them to find the correct education for them, supporting them directly with the application and scholarship process.
Having successfully crowdfuded for £2000 in the last month, clarifies and supports the idea for the need of such a tailored project that supports individuals to progress to their dreams.
What we'll deliver:
- 10 students get back to university with scholarships and grants
- assist 10 individuals to upskill employability skills
- deliver training on wellbeing and resilience building
- build coherent community
Why it's a great idea:
People have left a lot behind and in order to overcome their own negative experiences, traumas and challenges, they need support.
There’s a lot of difference between how the education system works here in the UK and in other countries
Connecting people to a community of people who can support and help them, makes a huge difference in their ability to tackle this challenge on their own
Every single human being has the inspiration and ambition to move forward but the information that’s there to support them isn’t available or accessible to everyone and we need to change that.
using the lived experience and support from previous cohort, we want to assist the individuals to overcome these barrier by promoting further integration into society and more cohesive international communities through workshops around accessing education and building resilience. from our previously run sessions we have seen a change in how our support has allowed individuals to progress ahead.
Steps to get it done:
- setting up and adverting the delivery of project.
- getting volunteers on boarded
- getting and recruiting participants.
We have raised funding through crowdfunding in the last month, which shows that there is a huge need for such projects. we have been able to raise our initial target of £2000 and we are still fundraising, to support more people.
