The idea
We want to organise a cultural afternoon and evening on 8th June 2024 to enable the community of Thornton Cleveleys to come together to celebrate existing individual and group performances, as well as supporting new ones. We want to support a varied genre, ages and abilities, and want to involve everyone including those who are socially excluded and vulnerable and may not always fit into main stream education etc.
The event will take place on St Georges Playing fields in Thornton Cleveleys. A stage will be hired and a compere and AV will be hired. This will be a fun time for all the family and will have stalls with food and drink and there will be plenty of seating. Families and groups can bring tables and chairs/picnic mats and picnics of their own and we can make this a really fun day and evening. We may even be able to have a firework display
What we'll deliver
- Hire a stage, sound equipment and a compere for a day and evening
- Invite groups and individuals to perform on stage
- Provide food and drink stations
Why it's a great idea
The benefits will be that it will bring our community closer and celebrate what we have to offer in terms of arts and performance.
It will bring together those people who may be disadvantaged in any way
it will also promote our gala which celebrates 126 years in 2024. This is steeped in a lot of history and tradition, and despite the act that the route has had to be curtailed due to an orbital road being built many years ago, it has withstood the test of time. We are starting to introduce large wagons again in our procession due to the support of a local business man. we are hoping that more schols wand community groups will take up the offer of a free one for the procession on the Sunday, but will inspire these groups to be part of the Saturday celebration
Steps to get it done
- Hire of stage
- Hire of AV and employ a compere
- Request musical acts to participate
- Actively seek performers, and in particular new talen
