The Purple Elephant Project plans to transform an ex-caretaker's house on the grounds of a primary school into a welcoming and safe place for children, young people, parents and carers to access vital therapeutic support. Play therapy and therapeutic parenting training will be just some of the services offered by a team of qualified experts. In order to begin supporting families, we need to secure funding to purchase equipment, set up a therapy room and sensory space and create an enclosed therapeutic garden. Our vision for the Purple Elephant Project 'hub' is that it will feel like a home-from-home for children and families who desperately need support. In order to do this we need to purchase everything from the furniture to the toys, and the cutlery to the play-doh! This will be a much-needed addition to the local community which will help countless families and schools. Please help us make a space to listen to children and young people. At Purple Elephant we're all ears.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Simply put, The Purple Elephant Project needs to exist in order to support currently over-stretched services helping vulnerable families across Greater London. There is a real need for a therapeutic space where services can be accessed at a central point, and furthermore it is vital that this place is safe, welcoming and homely. We need to start this by creating a base for our in-house and out-reach services; a place where parents can drop in for support, feel listened to and a place for children to feel safe enough to explore the issues that effect them. We need your support to get this off the ground!
Steps to get it done:
In addition to the services and therapies outlined above, we will also work towards Ofsted registration in order for us to become a post-adoption support centre, offering more specialised therapeutic services and training for these families.
