The idea
The book will be a lavishly illustrated edition.
It will center on the diversity both culturally and musically of Preston, Lancashire.
A project that will focus on the inclusion of people's memories of going to shows at venues like the Public Hall, The Guild Hall and Charter Theatre.
Smaller venues that are no longer in existence such as The Catacombs, The Beachcomber and The Lamb. These venues were the bedrock of the local music scene and the great times that are still in people's memories will bring all this to life using rare photographs and memorabilia as well as the recollections of the people that were there.
The gathering of first hand recollections of legendary performances by artists of the highest order that regularly came to Preston to play will form the basis of the book, but a focus on the local music scene which continues to this day and covers every genre of music. Folk nights to Tokyo Jo's - its all going to be covered through extensive research and interviews.
