The idea
Tech styles is a unique breakin event which is held in Bradford, the old woollen “textiles” capital of the world. “Tech” in dance terms is a string of movements & “Style” being a dancer’s character & way of movement.
We have faith and aim to make this breakin event the highlight of 2017 within Bradford, not only for those currently involved within the dance scene but also for the general public. We believe this event is for everyone and we want to inspire the people of Bradford by showing that anything is possible if you work hard and believe.
Using the knowledge of the past and understanding Bradford’s rich history, we aim to use Tech Styles to restore Bradford’s former glory from days of old and move forward in strength and unity, taking our city to new heights.
What we'll deliver
- Deliver an event that will bring together dancers and the general community.
- Provide job opportunities for dancers within Bradford.
- Run open dance workshops within the city centre.
Why it's a great idea
Bradford has an amazing underground breakin scene which has grown substantially over the years and has provided a common passion for many people of different cultures and backgrounds. We are highly passionate about breakin and want to transform the city through our innovative event ‘Tech Styles’. This will be a life changing event for many and will breath life into an unused space.
Many kids from schools and community centres are involved within the Bradford dance scene and this will provide an opportunity for them to join together and showcase their skills to the general public. This will provide the creative outlet they are currently lacking and will work towards the sustainability of the dance sector within Bradford and the Yorkshire area.
