The idea
We would like to offer swimming lessons to up to twenty children who are eligible for free school meals, and who may be unable to pay for such lessons. Short, intensive courses are available, but to become fully proficient in the water can take up to eighteen months when visited on a weekly basis.
What we'll deliver
- Free swimming lessons for up to twenty children.
Why it's a great idea
The benefit of this project is that those children who could go through life being unable to swim, possibly with a life-long fear of the water, would gain the ability to survive in the water, and would hopefully enjoy the experience of learning to swim. Not all children have this opportunity, either due to financial difficulties or because their school does not offer that facility. We believe that the ability to swim is an essential skill that must be learned at a young age, but we, the charity that operates Chester City Baths cannot afford to run courses for free, and are therefore seeking external funding.
Steps to get it done
- Approach relevant authority for eligible names.
- Send out applications.
- Begin lessons.
