The idea
Every day, our volunteers rescue perfectly good food from supermarkets, wholesalers, bakeries, restaurants, allotments, and farms, and share it with the community for free.
By saving surplus food that would otherwise go to landfill, we reduce waste, cut carbon emissions, and make nutritious meals accessible to everyone.
Our service is inclusive and stigma-free, supports families, individuals, and older residents alike, while fostering a culture of sharing, dignity, and sustainability across Witney.

Why it's a great idea
Our project gives people the dignity of choice by offering a wide variety of fresh and ambient food, so visitors can select what works best for their households. Beyond providing food, we teach our community practical lessons on food: such as how to store it safely, cook it creatively, and reduce waste. We are helping people learn how to make the most of the food they find at the fridge, supporting both healthier eating and more sustainable habits.
Demand for our service is growing, knowledge about food waste is improving, and our food partners are providing more than ever. With attendance at an all-time high, we are striving to meet the need and ensure everyone has access to nutritious, wholesome food.
