Project aim is to bring existing and new partners together to deliver a joy festival in Jan 2024. It will help people and families to live healthier lifestyles and enjoy a better quality of life by raising awareness of our availability to access the joy that is inside of us in our every day life. by participating in activities that promote positive mental health and wellbeing and are fun. Joy fest will build capacity and resilience of vulnerable residents in our community of Fleetwood and beyond and will help to reduce the inequality in mental health by opening the doors of joy fest to all ages and social groups. This will foster stronger relationships and understanding to meet people where they are at. We will involve local community groups and busineses to strengthen connections and foster growth to our local economy by promoting the event so visitors from the wider area can attend and see the joy in visiting our town and its many assets.

What we'll deliver:

  • A FAMILY DAY FILLED WITH FUN POSITIVITY AND JOY
  • WE PLEDGE TO MAKE 500 JARS OF JOY FREE AT THE POINT OF DELIVERY TO BUILD RESILLIENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY
  • WE WILL WORK ALONGSIDE OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS STATUTORY AND VOLUNTARY TO PROMOTE COMMUNITY SPIRIT
  • we aim to deliver joyful activities underpinned by the 5 ways to wellbeing such as learning circus skills
  • We pledge to carry out further workshops to deliver our 500 jars if not all made on the day

Why it's a great idea:

I truly believe we all need joy in our life and we often rely upon external factors to obtain this Joyfest will give each individual who attend some skills and tips to find their own joy and what truly lights them up . Each participant will be invited to make their own jar of joy to take away and fill with items that mean something to them and bring them joy that they can remove from the jar on the days or times they need to find more joy . "moments of joy strung together over time build resilience " BRENE BROWN Joyfest will be a great community event that will lighten the dark days of January and boost positivity for all those who attend . Fleetwood suffers from high levels of deprivation with six wards that fall within the top 10 percent of Englands most deprived areas. Fleetwood has the highest number of houses in multIple occupation and social housing , the highest benefit dependency , crime rates and the lowest life expectancy in the district .Joy increases life expectancy!!!!

Steps to get it done:

  • We will secure the venue and activities

i have already spoken with various organisations and their involvement in delivering this day of Joy in January in Fleetwood During our discussion we spoke about the need for first aid provision refreshments and marketing of the event . I have provisionally secured a venue and spoken with various potential workshop hosts such as laughter yoga /circus skills
