The idea
SARA's Sharpness Lifeboat station aims to enhance safety and efficiency by equipping its two lifeboats with a wireless intercom system. Operating on the River Severn in Gloucestershire, these lifeboats are crewed by dedicated volunteers who rely on clear and immediate communication with each other and the UK Coastguard during emergencies. The current communication challenges, which sometimes require slowing the vessel for audible exchanges, risk delaying critical response times. The proposed system will ensure seamless communication without the need for reducing speed, improving coordination and potentially saving lives.
