Whoop, 110 people have pledged since fundraising began!
By Sutton & District Training ltd
Restore a building in our park which will be managed jointly by SDT & the community. The project will benefit groups, individuals & businesses to use and enjoy this facility in a beautiful space.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Re-develop the former Police stables/workshop in the centre of a village park to its former glory. The building will be used as a learning centre and a flexible space for the local community to use and enjoy. The building has been neglected and unloved for many years and needs a complete rebuild. The plan is to repair, re-store and re-build the stables into a flexible area for use by the local residents to accommodate various community needs from arts and crafts, learning, fun, social and formal events and more.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
As a company Sutton & District Training have been working in the London borough of Sutton, Merton and Croydon for nearly 20 years, we have worked with people from all age groups and backgrounds and understand the importance of the community spirit. This building will create an amazing focal point for the community and allow use for a range of age groups it will be for the whole community. The need for people to get together, learn, work and have fun is a very basic idea, but sometimes so hard to achieve, this is why this project is so important. In todays world with more and more properties being taken or lost from our communities due to development or costs, we must work in partnership so that we are in a position to create an adaptive, safe space in a beautiful location in the heart of two London Boroughs.

Thank you to everyone who has pledged, but we still have a long way to go to reach our target. We are eagerly awaiting the Mayor’s decision as to what he will pledge – we should know the outcome by the 19th October. So where are we now ………. The build is going to cost in the region of £140K, this isn’t the top specification but it is achievable, Sutton and District Training have made a commitment to make up the shortfall. We have been working on this project for over a year and although the building looks the same there has been so much going on in the background ie. Change of Use application, planning application, architect drawings and much more – if we are successful we have everything in place to make it happen. We are working with Sutton Local Authority who are signposting us to people, community groups and local businesses that may benefit from this resource and utilise the space we are creating. We have a meeting with our local MP, Mr Tom Brake to ask for his support and would welcome the opportunity to meet with anyone who will give us a few minutes of their time. Please don’t stop helping, keep up the good work of encouraging friends, family and spreading the word to ensure we get this building brought back to life…Thank you.
