The idea
The Regis School of Music is a live music venue delivering exceptionally high standard live music events throughout the year. The building is a community hub and a jewel in the crown of Bognor Regis, giving many local community groups a truly beautiful space in which to conduct its activities.
The RSM have fundraised extensively and managed to renovate all the windows and fire doors earlier this year. Now, with our other fundraising efforts exhausted, we are seeking additional sources of funding to renovate the kitchen and toilet areas to make them safer, cleaner and more user friendly.
What we'll deliver
- New kitchen area
- 4 completely renovated toilets
Why it's a great idea
The Regis School of Music building is used every day of the academic term and the vast majority of weekends throughout the year.
- We have more than 10 instrumental teachers, delivering lessons to over 70 students of all ages on a weekly basis.
- We have a preschool programme delivering 4 classes per week to approx. 55 families per week.
- We host language classes and music ensembles covering all ages and social demographics.
- We host support groups for Parkinsons UK and U3A as well as Touch4Health.
Our users in the community are many, and diverse, with no discrimination against gender, religion, ethnic background, social or economic status, physical or mental disability. We must do everything possible to preserve this beautiful building and ensure it is preserved for future generations.
Steps to get it done
- Schedule the kitchen & toilet refurbishment
- Deliver the kitchen and toilet refurbishment
Being a charity, the Regis School of Music relies heavily on the rental income generated by the groups that use our premises on a weekly basis in order to meet its running costs. For this reason, it is vitally important that these fundamental works are carried out over the summer holidays while the building is being used less than during term time, in order to minimise disruption to community groups, and keep the rental income. Should the Spacehive project be successful, all works will be carried out during the month of August for the building to be open as usual for the new term in September.
