Helping our communities and volunteers to improve our beautiful borough - pitch by 8th September!
Since the pandemic we have seen a substantial increase in demand for our service. Unfortunately, we were only able to offer 2 drop-in sessions a week at our local neighbourhood centre which has prompted us to find an alternative. We have been lucky enough to find a excellent unit of our own at The Strand Shopping Centre, Bootle. Moving to our own premises means we can be open Monday to Friday and benefit from a space that will be designed specifically for the needs of Reach and its clients. This will incorporate a large social area, specialist counselling rooms, a kitchen and toilet facilities. We have been lucky enough to have gained funding towards furnishing counselling rooms and a meeting room and we have a pool table for our members to use in the social area. Any money we raise here will go towards making our social area comfy and relaxing for our members. We want to purchase 3 couches and a coffee table, and some carpet tiles.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The Reach was set up in 2017 with the aim to fill the gap in mental health support for men in Sefton. Through conversations with men in the area we found that there was a demand for an informal drop-in service where men could socialise with others and receive signposting to relevant services. We provide a range of services aimed at reducing isolation and improving the mental health of men in the area. Our support groups offer the chance for local men to meet on a regular basis. During these sessions our attendees benefit from social interaction, they can share experiences, play activities such as pool, partake in quizzes, gain knowledge from our guest speakers, obtain sign posting to other local services and gain new skills though various courses such a cooking, money management and art. We also provide support through our one to one counselling service or support groups. Our project will allow this service to be delivered full time meaning that more men can benefit.
