The idea

At Goofus we love to share magical stories through our puppet performances. We can 'pop-up' in almost any space! This summer we would love to bring our shows right into our Cheshire East communities. Taking over community centres, village halls or even the local park. Our aim is to organise 8 days of free performances over the summer holidays.

Our family friendly shows use puppetry, music and live performance to tell stories of friendship, bravery and, of course, magic. We love to spend time with our audiences after each show so they can chat to the actors and meet the puppets. Puppetry is inclusive for all audiences ages 0-100!

What we'll deliver

  • 8 days of free performances in towns / villages across Cheshire East
  • 5 free performances each day

Why it's a great idea

Our project will bring the magic of theatre to audiences who may not otherwise get the opportunity to enjoy this experience. Introducing puppetry a performing art that maybe new to many people. Our shows are inclusive to all audiences including neuro-diverse children and young people, those living with dementia and children of all ages.

Bringing theatre into unusual places right in the heart of communities means we can reach new audiences. Providing the performances free ensures we are not excluding anyone who may not otherwise be able to afford to engage with a theatre show.

Adding the chance to meet our actors can inspire our next generation of creatives, actors and performers. Showing young people a career in performing arts is a worthwhile, rewarding choice.

We can perform 5 shows per day and aim to engage 800 people over the project.

Steps to get it done

  • Book venues for performance dates
  • Advertise performance days on social media / posters in communities
  • Rehearse for performances
  • Perform shows
